Ashton Construction Services was hired by Lady McDonald Country Inn to manage the multi-phased renovation project in Downtown Canmore. The project included the refurbishment of two suites, the addition of an internal hallway for improved room access (previously only accessible externally), and the installation of an accessible bathroom. Throughout the process, Ashton Construction collaborated closely with Montane Architecture and client, handling permit applications, trade and material sourcing, and construction—all while ensuring minimal disruption to the inn’s ongoing operations.
In the second phase, the project expanded to include a new treatment room and a front conservatory. This required new foundations with a crawl space to accommodate the HVAC system. The conservatory was designed with large windows and a bright, natural aesthetic, while its structure was engineered to support a hot tub above. Construction was carefully managed to integrate seamlessly with the fully operational building while maintaining guest comfort.
The final phase focused on the installation of the hot tub on the deck, featuring a tiled surface with a snow melt system, completed with roof flashing and surrounding railings. The project concluded with front landscaping, harmonizing the newly developed town land with the inn’s refreshed exterior.
