ACS was contracted by ISL Engineering as Construction Manager to oversee the conversion and renovation of a newly acquired space within the Shops of Canmore. The project involved a complete demolition of the existing layout, merging two spaces into one cohesive and functional communal office environment.
The redesigned space features a new staff kitchen, two full bathrooms, private office areas, and a central open office with partial partition walls for collaboration. A standout element of the renovation is the custom climbing wall, a unique feature requested by the client to enhance the space’s character and functionality.
Natural light floods the office through large windows, complementing the design focus on wood and natural elements. The renovation incorporated extensive custom millwork, exposed concrete, and steel, creating a warm yet industrial aesthetic that aligns with ISL Engineering’s vision.
ACS provided comprehensive construction management services, ensuring seamless execution of the project while delivering a modern and inspiring workspace tailored to the client’s needs.
“For example, one scope addition was to change/move/enlarge the planned bouldering wall so we could fit in an OnSite / MoonBoard; which really enhanced this key office feature investment that our staff were excited about. It was a big challenge early in the project and we worked together to make it happen. Tara and some of ACS’s subcontractors also prepared estimates to break our old office space back into two units, so we could share that info with potential purchasers of our old office space. Thanks to the whole ACS team and their subcontractors for building us a great space to continue providing community infrastructure engineering in the Bow Valley.”
